Mahane Yehuda Market

Welcome to Mahane Yehuda market. It's a large market in West Jerusalem, complete with shouting vendors, huge crowds, and plenty of locals buying their fruits, vegetables, meat, and of course halva--not to mention the chocolately rolls of deliciousness that are famous here. I figured the best way for you, dear readers, to experience it was through a wordless photo essay, so here it is:

  1. I am coming to visit you immediately.
Those fig stuffed pastries look outstanding! And, what are those beige cake-looking things covered with seeds and such? Oh, you lucky girl! I think of a phrase someone said earlier this week: Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. You are living your destiny, dear Breanne, because you (and God) have choosen to be there. Love you!

  2. Your talent is just amazing. It all looks so enticing!

Except for picture #2, which looks like bugs. Just sayin'

  3. Oh my heck, Chicken Dust, #2 is so definitely not bugs. It is one of the most delicious, chocolately morsels of wonderfulness that I have ever tried. I think I'll have to send some back with Losaunne so you can taste of its wonder and glory. :) Those are the chocolate rolls that are famous at the market.

    And Laurel, love that quote.

Losaunne--just wait until you get here. And then you will be in awe at the wonder and convenience of Wal-Mart: everything you want or need, all in one place! No haggling over the price, no getting stomped on (except the day after Thanksgiving), and a huge air conditioned building... :)
